Sancorganic promotes the transformation of the Spanish agri-food sector with new standards of sustainability and quality

11/05/2026

Sancorganic is developing its 2026-2028 strategic plan which consolidates its commitment to organic farming and its ambition to lead organic pistachio production in Spain. The company, which has two farms located in Cebreros (Ávila) and Valdetorres de Jarama (Madrid), is moving towards an integrated production model that covers everything from agronomic management to final packaging. Its goal is to offer a premium product and contribute to raising the standards of quality and sustainability in the national agricultural sector.

The company manages more than 500 hectares and exceeds 100,000 planted pistachio trees, with a projection to reach 200,000 pistachio trees in the coming years. This growth is supported by its own industrial infrastructure — the Valdetorres de Jarama processing plant — which became operational during the last campaign and has already successfully processed the first 4,000 kilograms of premium organic pistachios from the Cebreros farm. Far from being an isolated milestone, this operational progress responds to a strategic vision that combines long-term planning, technological innovation and a verifiable commitment to market trust.

Traceability and food safety as cornerstones of trust at Sancorganic

Sancorganic's production model is structured around a fully integrated value chain: from soil care and drip irrigation management to reception, peeling, drying and packaging of the product at its Valdetorres de Jarama facilities. This vertical integration allows for rigorous control over each phase of the process, an essential condition to guarantee the 360° traceability required by the certified organic market.

Certified organic production introduces an additional level of requirement in terms of food safety. Each batch is subject to European Union regulations applicable to organic products, which implies periodic audits, quality control protocols and obtaining the corresponding certifications. These mechanisms do not only constitute a regulatory requirement, but are part of the differential value that the company offers to its clients and business partners.

"We understand quality as the result of doing things right from the beginning: caring for the soil, using water with maximum efficiency, respecting natural cycles and making decisions based on knowledge, data and experience", point out members of Sancorganic's operational team.

Transparency in production processes is, in this sense, a structural condition of the business. The organic nature of the production and the complete traceability of the product generate a foundation of trust towards distributors, the food industry and the final consumer that can hardly be built without its own, verifiable industrial infrastructure.

The commitment to the circular economy in Spain

Sancorganic integrates a set of practices into its agro-industrial model aimed at more efficient and environmentally friendly production. These include the implementation of ground cover crop monitored through targeted grazing, soil sensing for precise moisture control and the use of drip irrigation to adjust water input in each cycle. The optimisation of water resources and soil care are part of the criteria with which the company makes decisions in the agronomic field, as the company itself states in its corporate information.

Technological innovation applied to the field occupies a central place in this approach. The use of drones to improve pollination, the integration of high-efficiency irrigation systems and the continuous monitoring of the status of the trees allow for the reduction of inputs and improved yields without compromising organic standards. This precision agriculture approach connects directly with the sustainable development goals that set the European agri-food agenda and positions the company as an actor aligned with the criteria of responsibility and sustainability demanded by investors and institutions.

The territorial dimension of the project also reinforces its role as a driver of local development. Sancorganic's activity generates direct and indirect employment in the municipalities of Valdetorres de Jarama and Cebreros and, whenever possible, the company works with local suppliers. Likewise, the company has expressed its intention for its industrial facilities to become a point of reference for other producers in the sector, fostering the consolidation of an organic pistachio agro-industrial ecosystem with greater competitive capacity in international markets.
