With a presence in the Community of Madrid and Ávila, Sancorganic is establishing itself as an agro-industrial producer of organic pistachios that combines scale, integration, and technical excellence. Its goal is to become a reference player within the organic pistachio sector in Spain and generate sustainable value in the long term.
The commencement of production at the Cebreros plantation and the processing of the first 4,000 kilograms of organic pistachios at the industrial plant mark a milestone in the operational development of the project. Currently, Sancorganic has over 100,000 pistachio trees planted and expects to reach 200,000 in the coming years.
Sancorganic closed the last financial year having processed its first 4,000 kilos of organic pistachios. The production of these pistachios comes from the estate that the company has in Cebreros, in the province of Ávila. In this location, it planted over 6,000 pistachio trees that have been growing over the years and are now coming into production.
Sancorganic also owns another estate covering around 500 hectares in Valdetorres de Jarama, in the Community of Madrid. This location is where the processing plant has started operating for the first time in the last campaign.
Although Sancorganic's production is still modest, it is noteworthy that the company is developing one of the largest organic pistachio plantations in Europe in Valdetorres de Jarama. Currently, Sancorganic has over 100,000 pistachio trees planted and expects to reach 200,000 in the coming years. Likewise, next year, the first pistachio trees planted in Valdetorres de Jarama will come into production, substantially increasing its output in subsequent campaigns.
Sancorganic develops the production of organic pistachios in Spain
For some time now, Spain has established itself as an international powerhouse in pistachio production. The country already has over 80,000 hectares of land dedicated to pistachio cultivation. However, the vast majority of domestic production does not have organic certification.
Sancorganic aims to capitalize on the growth potential within the organic segment of pistachio activities. Therefore, the company's purpose is to promote the production of high-quality organic pistachios on a large scale, thereby generating a positive and lasting impact on the territory. To achieve this, Sancorganic is developing an integrated model for the production of certified organic pistachios based on long-term investment and the application of best practices.
Planting, processing, and operational projection
The territorial implantation of Sancorganic is concentrated in two main locations, Cebreros, in the province of Ávila, and Valdetorres de Jarama, in the Community of Madrid. The development of the project began in Cebreros as a first phase of implantation and agronomic learning. In fact, it was in 2014 when Sancorganic planted the first 250 pistachio trees in the Cebreros estate. Five years later, in 2019, the company decided to take a further step by planting another 6,000 trees in Cebreros. This second planting is the one that will come into production in 2025 and from which 4,000 kilograms of product have been harvested.
The subsequent expansion towards Valdetorres de Jarama marked the beginning of a growth phase aimed at structuring a larger-scale model, aligned with the industrial and logistical capacities necessary to sustain the increase in production. It has been in recent years that the company has progressed in its plans to surpass the figure of 100,000 trees planted between the two locations.
Sancorganic aspires to develop a model that integrates the entire value chain of pistachio. In its facilities in Valdetorres de Jarama, it has located its processing plant where the product is shelled, dried, and packaged. Furthermore, it will later endow its plant in Valdetorres de Jarama with new capabilities so that it becomes a central point for managing the product from the harvest to its final preparation.
The commencement of production at the Cebreros plantation and the processing of the first 4,000 kilograms of organic pistachios at the industrial plant mark a milestone in the operational development of the project.
The medium- and long-term projection is based on a model that combines production volume, quality control, and integrated industrial organization. This allows the company to consolidate its presence in the premium organic pistachio segment, with planning and vision for the long term where operational stability and efficient management of productive resources are prioritized.
